Te Tai o Poutini Art Awards

28 August 2020

Westland Arts Inc (WAI) officially launched the new Te Tai o Poutini Art Awards on Thursday 27 August at WestREAP in Hokitika.

Te Tai o Poutini Art Awards are funded by Creative New Zealand’s Art Continuity Grant. It is a competition that will help profile West Coast artists or those with direct ties to the West Coast.

The competition is free to enter for the first year, with ambitions to make the awards an annual event.

The aim of the awards is to help artists affected by the COVID-19 economic climate. The competition will also help profile West Coast artists or those with direct ties to the West Coast.

The competition is free to enter for the first year, and will offer a year-long online gallery (at tetaiopoutiniartawards.co.nz) of artworks entered in this year’s competition. The website will provide links to each artist, enabling them to sell their work directly to the public with no commission charges.
